If you have started looking for trucks for sale, there is a good chance that you need a vehicle to do some work. In terms of towing and hauling, you can always count on a pickup to get the job done. And while the bigger models—including the ones with “Super Duty” in their names—have outstanding workhorse abilities, they often leave a lot to be desired when it comes to things like drivability and fuel economy. This is where a truck like the 2025 Ford Ranger comes in. This pickup really gives you the best of both worlds—it can tow and haul and is a fantastic daily driver. We will take a look at everything it offers and go over the different trim levels so you can find the one that is right for you.

Performance and Fuel Economy

Even though the Ranger is a midsize truck, this in no way means that it’s weak. The base model comes with a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque. If you’re looking for a little more oomph, you can opt for the available twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that produces 315 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Ranger Raptor has a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with a staggering 405 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. All three engines are mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, and while rear-wheel drive is standard, four-wheel drive is available. This truck is a joy to drive, as it has great handling and excellent ride quality. Plus, the Ranger has good fuel economy for its class.

Towing and Hauling Ability

When it’s time for your Ford Ranger to get to work, you won’t be disappointed with what it can do. When equipped with the Trailer Tow Package—which includes a Class IV trailer hitch receiver and a four-pin/seven-pin wiring harness—your truck can tow up to 7,500 lbs. To make towing easier, you can also get the Advanced Towing Package, which comes with a trailer brake controller and Pro Trailer Backup Assist.

Every 2025 Ranger comes with a five-foot bed that has 43.5 cu.ft. of cargo space. Plus, thanks to its four-foot width, you will have no trouble fitting sheets of plywood between the wheel wells. With four-wheel drive, it offers a maximum payload of 1,711 lbs, and that climbs up to 1,805 lbs with rear-wheel drive.

Cabin Space

One reason why so many families decide to go with the Ranger for their household vehicle is because of all the space it offers. It comes in a standard Crew Cab configuration with bucket seats in the front and a bench in the back, providing seating for five passengers. Both rows offer ample headroom and legroom, and five people can fit very nicely. There is also a storage area under the rear row, and the rear seatbacks can be folded flat to fit extra large cargo.

Safety Features

It’s clear that the 2025 Ranger was built to help keep you safe, as it comes loaded with the most advanced protection systems Ford offers. The standard features found on all trims include:

  • Driver Alert System: Your Ranger will keep pretty close tabs on you and how you’re driving. If it detects erratic maneuvers—perhaps due to tiredness—it will sound an alert telling you to focus or perhaps pull over for a break.
  • Pre-Collision Assist: If there’s an obstacle in front of your truck—such as a vehicle or pedestrian—and a collision is possible, you will get a visual and audible warning.
  • Automatic Emergency Braking: If you don’t pay attention to that warning, your pickup will apply the brakes and, if necessary, can bring itself to a full stop to prevent or mitigate an accident.
  • Automatic High Beams: When driving at night, you won’t have to worry about continually turning on your high beams and turning them off when there is oncoming traffic, as the Ranger will handle that for you.

2025 Ford Ranger Trims

Now that you know the basics of what your Ranger will come with, it’s time to get a little more specific. There are four trims to pick from, and they are increasingly loaded with amenities as you move up the trim ladder.

Ford Ranger XL

The base XL trim comes with cloth upholstery, an eight-way manually adjustable driver’s seat, and a six-way manually adjustable front passenger seat. Tech features are plentiful, and these include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multiple USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. It also comes with a simple-to-operate infotainment system with a 10-inch touchscreen, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster, and a six-speaker stereo.

Ford Ranger XLT

You will get quite a few more tech goodies in the XLT trim. These include satellite radio, wireless device charging, remote start, and 120V power outlets for the bed. These extra safety features are also standard:

  • Blind Spot Information System: With this feature, your truck will pay attention to the cars around you and alert you via lights in your side mirrors if a vehicle is in your blind spot.
  • Cross-Traffic Alert: You can go in reverse with great peace of mind, as this system uses sensors to detect any cars passing behind you and will send a warning if it’s not safe to proceed.
  • Lane-Keeping System: Getting distracted behind the wheel can be easy, and if you start drifting out of your lane without meaning to, your truck will send you an alert and attempt to steer itself back into your lane.

Ford Ranger Lariat

The Lariat rides on 18-inch wheels, and it will also help keep you nice and comfortable. Leather upholstery is standard, as are heated and power-adjustable front seats with memory settings for the driver and a heated steering wheel. You will also get a bigger 12-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system, along with an HD radio and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo. An in-dash navigation system, universal garage door opener, and push-button start are also included. The Lariat also comes with a 360-Degree Camera, Digital Rear View Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

Ford Ranger Raptor

Do you see a lot of off-roading in your future? If so, you will definitely want to go with the Raptor. With this trim, you will get all of the same comfort features as the Lariat, plus performance upgrades that will let you take your truck almost anywhere. These include steel front and rear bumpers, underbody bash plates, electronic-locking front and rear axles, 2.5-inch FOX Live Valve Shocks, and a Watts-link rear suspension. Ford Trail Control is also standard, which is a low-speed cruise control system. This will help you navigate tough terrain by detecting changes in the land and adjusting acceleration and braking accordingly. Beadlock-capable wheels are available for the all-terrain tires.
