Adventure Awaits: A Look at the 2025 Ford Expedition Trim Levels

Drivers who want a full-size SUV will be well served by choosing the Ford Expedition. Since 1997, Ford has been offering this full-size model that combines exceptional performance with a roomy and comfortable interior that can seat up to eight passengers in its three rows. The 2025 Ford Expedition is the most advanced model to date, with a number of updates from the prior year’s model. This includes new exterior appearance features like a more rugged grille and new wheel designs, as well as a larger SYNC infotainment screen. However, the most amazing update is the Ford Split Gate, a power upper and lower tailgate that provides easy access to the trunk, especially if you opt for the amazing Cargo Tailgate Manager for the Expedition.Ā

The place to go to find a 2025 Ford Expedition for sale is Future Ford of Sacramento. We have the full lineup of new Expeditions to choose from, with the ability for you to find one of the four great trims offered on this SUV. Ford gives you these choices because it knows that each driver may have certain things it wants on its Expedition. This also allows you to choose a price point that will work best for your budget.

The Expedition Active

The entry-level model of the 2025 Expedition is the Active. This has a base MSRP of $62,000, making it the most affordable of the Expedition trim levels.[a] It comes equipped with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gas engine. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and can produce 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The engine features Auto Stop-Start Technology to help reduce fuel consumption by turning off the engine when you come to a complete stop with your foot on the brake and then restarting it when you release pressure on the pedal.

The Expedition Active comes with rear-wheel drive. Intelligent 4WD is an available option. This will give you improved traction, as well as Ford’s Terrain Management System, which has a number of different settings for common on-road and off-road conditions. Rear-wheel drive models ride on 18-inch wheels, while ones with four-wheel drive feature 20-inch wheels. Both are wrapped with all season tires.

The rear of the Expedition Active features the Ford Split Gate. This is a standard feature on all 2025 Expedition models. This divides the rear liftgate into an upper and lower portion, which makes it easier to load and unload your Expedition. You can also just open the top to reach the items you need without opening the entire liftgate. The available Cargo Tailgate Manager provides a number of ways to use the rear tailgate area, including a table that can pop up, turning the rear of your SUV into a workbench or serving area.

The interior of the 2025 Expedition has been completely upgraded from the prior year. The centerpiece is a 24-inch Panoramic Display Instrument Panel that will give you the information you need when driving without having to take your eyes off the road. There is also the latest version of the Ford SYNC system on a 13.2-inch Center Stack Display. This allows you to connect your phones using wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can make hands-free calls and texts. You can also stream your favorite music over the six-speaker audio system in the Expedition Active. This model seats up to eight passengers with a tasteful cloth fabric. You can also opt for captain’s chairs in the second row of seats, which will reduce your capacity to seven passengers.

Ford has equipped the Expedition Active with a suite of Ford Co-Pilot360 active safety features. This includes BLIS, the Blind Spot Information System. When you signal to change lanes, the system will let you know if there is another vehicle riding in your blind spot so you can avoid having a collision.

The Expedition Platinum

The Platinum is the ideal model for drivers who want to get the most out of on-road performance. This Expedition trim has a base MSRP of $74,430 and comes with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine, but drivers who have a need for speed will want to opt for the larger 3.5-liter EcoBoost High-Output V6 engine with the 10-speed automatic transmission.[a] This provides greater propulsion, giving this model 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. In addition, you will get standard Intelligent 4WD, providing you with exceptional traction, especially in inclement weather. The Expedition Platinum rides on a set of 20-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with all-season tires.

Ford has given the Platinum an interior fitting for its name. The seats feature perforated inserts and leather trim with heated and ventilated ones in the front row. There is also a long center aisle, making access to the third row’s 40/20/40 flexible seating bench easier than ever. You and your passengers will enjoy the B&O Sound System by Bang & Olufsen, which comes standard on the Platinum. This has 10 speakers strategically placed around the cabin, including a subwoofer for ideal bass tones. On this trim, you can opt for the B&O Unleashed Sound System by Bang & Olufsen. This distributes 22 speakers throughout the cabin, allowing you to choose the right music for your next adventure. Ford completes the package on the Platinum with available 360-Degree Zone Lighting, which will illuminate the area around your Expedition, a handy feature when you are out at night.

The Expedition Tremor

The newest trim on the Expedition is the Tremor, which starts at an MSRP of $81,030.[a] This is the first time Ford has offered a Tremor trim on a non-truck model. This gives you the ultimate in off-road capability. The Expedition Tremor comes standard with the larger 3.5-liter EcoBoost High-Output engine. This will provide you with exceptional speed and acceleration on and off the road. It comes with standard four-wheel drive, which includes a Rock Crawl Mode that makes it easier to traverse obstacles when you are off-roading. The 3.73 electronic locking differential will surely come in handy to prevent slippage. When the system detects one wheel slipping, it will lock the rear axle so the wheel that has traction will be able to get you out of the tight situation.

Ford has equipped the Expedition Tremor with a set of skid plates, including ones that shield the fuel tank. This will give you peace of mind if you hit any debris when out on the trail. The Tremor rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped with 33-inch all-terrain tires, improving the vehicle’s ground clearance to 10.6 inches.Ā

The Expedition King Ranch

The King Ranch is the top trim of the 2025 Expedition, and it has a starting MSRP of $83,655.[a] Like the Active, it comes standard with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gas engine, with a choice of rear-wheel and four-wheel drive. This lets you choose if you want the acceleration and fuel economy afforded by rear-wheel drive or prefer the traction of four-wheel drive. Whichever you choose, you will get an incomparable ride on the Expedition King Ranch, with its gorgeous 22-inch Sinister Bronze wheels wrapped with all-season tires.

The interior of the King Ranch is pure luxury. The seats feature Del Rio Leather with Kingsville Stitching. These not only look stylish but are also incredibly comfortable. You and your passengers will be entertained by the standard B&O Unleashed Sound System like the available one on the Platinum. The only hard part is agreeing on the music to play during your next trip.

Ford makes cruising in your Expedition King Ranch easier than ever with the BlueCruise Hands-Free Highway Driving system. This allows you to drive your Expedition hands-free on specially mapped roads across the United States. This is safer, as the system uses all of the Co-Pilot 360 cameras and sensors to guide it along the road. It also helps reduce driver fatigue on long drives, which helps to keep you and your passengers safe no matter where you go on your next expedition.
