While electric vehicles (EVs) might have once been considered a niche option, they’re becoming increasingly popular. At this point, the battle for EV SUV supremacy is well underway. You can see this clearly when you consider how many of these models are hitting the market right now, with new ones coming from all of the major companies. When you look at what’s available with a Ford Mustang Mach-E for sale, however, it’s easy to see that it remains the most impressive option out there. Compare it to another model like the Nissan ARIYA, and you’ll see why so many people are flocking to Ford and how the Mustang Mach-E defines everything we expect from this type of ride.

Superior Power and Performance

While pure power and performance might not be the most important thing with your typical SUV, this new generation of EV SUVs is anything but typical. One of our favorite things about EV performance and engineering is that it can deliver incredible power for a pulse-pounding driving experience, even in an SUV. You don’t have to choose a sports car with no passenger room inside to get a vehicle that is a blast to drive. The Ford Mustang Mach-E demonstrates that better than any other vehicle out there.

Looking at it compared to the Nissan ARIYA almost feels unfair, but it’s important to recognize the power it offers that other available SUVs do not. The ARIYA has two different battery options, 63 or 87 kWh, and your choice of either a single motor or a dual-motor configuration, which you’ll also find with the Mustang Mach-E, so this is a fair comparison. The starting performance from Nissan comes in at 214 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque in the entry-level ARIYA Engage FWD. The most powerful option, available in the ARIYA’s higher trim levels, boosts those numbers up to 389 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, which is completely respectable.

Unfortunately for Nissan, Ford goes far beyond respectable and takes performance to another level. The starting 72 kWh battery and single-motor setup for the Mustang Mach-E gives you 264 hp and 387 lb-ft of torque to enjoy, which is already terrific. With Ford’s high-performance model, the Mustang Mach-E GT, and its Performance Upgrade, you get 480 hp and 700 lb-ft of instant torque. To appreciate this, the ARIYA can go from 0 to 60 mph in a remarkable 4.8 seconds, while the Mustang Mach-E GT can leap to 60 mph in a mere 3.3 seconds, blazing a trail that Nissan can’t hope to keep up with.

Exceptional Range and Easy Charging

We know Ford will deliver fantastic performance in their vehicles because they’ve been doing it for generations. Whether you’re looking at the muscle and capability of the legendary F-150 or the bold performance of a Mustang, Ford knows power. What can be surprising, however, is that the Mustang Mach-E also gives you fantastic range, so you can go longer without worrying about recharging. The Nissan ARIYA is impressive in this area, too, but it simply falls behind what you get with the Mustang Mach-E.

Your choice of battery pack and motor setup impacts the range you can get, as do your driving habits and road conditions, so let’s focus on the ideal range for each model. In the best of all possible worlds, the Nissan ARIYA can go up to 304 miles on a full charge, which is terrific. And yet, the Ford Mustang Mach-E goes further with up to 320 miles of range from a full charge with its best setup for optimal driving distance. Not only that, but charging the Mustang Mach-E is incredibly easy thanks to support for at-home charging and Level 3 DC fast charging. Besides Ford’s BlueOval charging network, you can now take advantage of more than 15,000 Tesla Supercharger stations across North America, giving you more ways to charge the Mustang Mach-E than ever.

Innovative Technology Inside

One of our favorite things about modern EVs is that they not only deliver amazing driving experiences, but also have advanced tech to improve your drive each day. The Nissan ARIYA has a pair of 12.3-inch displays on the front dashboard, one for the driver and one for the infotainment screen. This is nice, though we generally prefer it when the screens are more separated than in Nissan’s SUV. Available options like a head-up display and Bose sound system are nice, but Ford takes things to the next level.

Right up front in the Mustang Mach-E, you’ll find a massive 15.5-inch portrait-oriented infotainment display that looks absolutely stunning and is easy to use. Even as you approach your Mustang Mach-E, it welcomes you with pony projection lamps and an illuminated E-latch that makes it easy to get in at night. It will even automatically adjust settings like climate controls, your seat and mirrors, and the entertainment system and ambient lighting to your personal preferences. If you share your vehicle with someone else, you’ll find things just how you like them every time you get in the driver’s seat.

First Ever Rally-Inspired Mustang Mach-E

When the Mustang Mach-E first hit the road, we were immediately impressed. Here was an EV SUV that lived up to its legendary name and everything that comes with it. Following such an incredible introduction, it would’ve been easy for Ford to simply rest on its laurels and bask in the praise from the auto industry. Instead, their engineers and designers have been hard at work making the Mustang Mach-E even better and offering amazing new options to elevate your drive further. New for the 2024 model year, for example, is the Mustang Mach-E Rally, featuring 480 hp and 700 lb-ft of torque for performance, along with a new RallySport drive mode that’s tuned to give you greater confidence and control when driving off the pavement. Combined with front Brembo brake calipers and a rally-tuned MagneRide Damping System for an incredibly smooth and comfortable ride in just about any condition, Ford has created an EV SUV far beyond anything Nissan offers for the ARIYA.

Exciting Styling and Exterior Options

We’ll admit that both of these SUVs look fantastic. Of course, we’re partial to the curves and impressive lines of the Ford Mustang Mach-E, but we can still recognize the beauty of the Nissan ARIYA. That being said, we prefer the gorgeous features and options that Ford has to offer. For example, the smooth forms and graceful shapes of the ARIYA are broken up by traditional door handles that feel out of place along its surface. The Mustang Mach-E with its E-latches feels like it was poured into existence, with a flowing design stretching from front to rear. We’re fans of the ARIYA’s available two-tone styling that pairs colors like Sunrise Copper Pearl and Deep Ocean Blue Pearl with Black Diamond Pearl, but Ford offers more colors that get us excited. The bold vibrance of options like Rapid Red Metallic and Grabber Blue Metallic make the Mustang Mach-E immediately catch your eye. New colors like Eruption Green Metallic deliver a beautiful ride you’ll never mistake for another vehicle in a crowded parking lot.

Are You Ready to Experience EV Excitement?

As you can see, we greatly respect the Nissan ARIYA and everything it brings to the road. Clearly, Nissan’s designers have worked exhaustively on it and produced an EV SUV they should be proud of. At the end of the day, however, it fails to deliver on things that the Ford Mustang Mach-E brings to the road, including its mind-blowing power and exceptional performance. When you bring it all together, Ford has gone further in creating an exceptional vehicle in every way, inside and out. Ultimately, words fail to do it justice. Even images and videos on a screen fall short. You need to see the Mustang Mach-E and feel its heart-pounding power to fully appreciate what Ford has done.
