Unleashing the 2025 Ford Maverick: Lobo and Tremor Trim Insights

The Maverick nameplate has been a part of the Ford lineup for longer than you might think, first debuting as a compact car in the 1970s. That version was discontinued after a few short years, putting the nameplate to the side until 2021. It was then that the redesigned Maverick was introduced, shifting from a car to a truck that offers a variety of options, from the street-performance-based Lobo to the rugged, off-road-ready Tremor. Today, the Ford Maverick stands out in its class, providing drivers with a reliable truck they can depend on mile after mile.

You can find the Ford Maverick for sale at Future Ford of Sacramento, along with a knowledgeable and friendly team who can help you determine whether the Lobo or Tremor trim is the right one for your needs. If you’ve been looking for a compact truck that offers a bit more than your typical choices, the Maverick is a great option to consider. Keep reading to learn more.

The Compact Ford Maverick

As mentioned, the Maverick was originally a compact car that was available as a two- or four-door sedan from 1970 to 1977. After a hiatus, it was reintroduced as a compact truck in 2021 for the 2022 model year. Since then, the truck has had some changes, including the introduction of the Tremor Package in 2023 and the Lobo trim for the 2025 model year.

Since its reintroduction, the Maverick has certainly turned heads, and for good reason. It was the first pickup in the nation to come with a standard gas-electric hybrid engine, offering a fuel economy of up to 42 miles per gallon. Additionally, its design was unique, with a streamlined exterior that flowed seamlessly from one end to the other. It also offered a well-designed interior, with multiple storage cubbies, a roomy back seat, and a number of advanced features to make the drive even more comfortable and engaging.

Today, the Maverick can still be purchased with the gas-electric hybrid engine, but you will also find a 2.0L EcoBoost with a seven-speed quick shift transmission when choosing the Lobo trim and a 2.0L EcoBoost with an eight-speed transmission when opting for the Tremor trim. A deeper dive into these two trims can be found below.

The 2025 Lobo Trim

The Lobo trim is new for the 2025 model year, coming in under $36,000.[a] Along with the 2.0L EcoBoost engine mentioned above, it also comes with advanced four-wheel drive, 19-inch Turbofan-styled Black Painted Aluminum Wheels, and a 7.4-inch ground clearance. This lowered stance, along with its specially tuned suspension and other features, makes it perfect for turning heads as you drive down the street.

On the exterior of the Lobo trim, you’ll find standard black handles on the tailgate, painted black skull caps on the mirrors, as well as a painted grille accent bar. You can also opt for protective film on the hood and fenders and molded front and rear splash guards. Additionally, you’ll appreciate the standard LED projector headlamps with LED Signature Accent Lighting and LED taillamps, along with the cargo lamp that makes unloading and loading in the dark easier.

Regarding the bed, there are ten standard bed tie-downs and a storage cubby on the passenger side. Additionally, the Flexbed Storage System is standard. This system increases the versatility of the truck’s bed, offering configurable storage solutions, such as built-in slots and separators, which allow you to quickly organize and secure your gear, equipment, or cargo. The system also has a modular tailgate design that can be set to accept a variety of item lengths, making it suitable for transporting everything from heavy equipment to smaller, everyday things. This ingenious design makes the truck more functional for both work and play.

On the interior, you’ll find standard 12V power points in the front and rear, as well as USB ports to keep your and your passengers’ digital devices charged. Speaking of those devices, you’ll also gain access to the SYNC 4 system with a 13.2-inch LCD capacitive touch screen with swipe capability, as well as Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity. Options that you may consider to make both long and short trips even more engaging include ambient lighting, heated seats, a power moonroof, and a B&O sound system by Bang & Olufsen with HD Radio.

The 2025 Tremor Trim

The Tremor name has been an optional package of the Maverick lineup since 2023. It is the top-tiered Maverick trim, with an MSRP starting at $40,195.[a] As mentioned, it has the same engine as the Lobo. However, it is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also, it sits much higher than the Loboā€”offering 9.1 inches of ground clearanceā€”which makes sense since the Tremor was designed for off-roading while the Lobo is better suited for street performance. Additionally, the standard 17-inch Machined-face Tarnished Dark-painted Aluminum wheels with Orange-Painted Pockets set the Tremor apart from the rest of the lineup, as well as other trucks in its class.

The rest of the exterior offers standard front tow hooks, black tailgate handles, body-color door handles, and the same painted black skull caps as the Lobo trim. Also, like the Lobo trim, you can opt for molded front and rear splash guards and a protective film for the hood and fenders. Regarding lighting, you’ll find that LED projector headlamps with LED Signature Accent Lighting, LED taillamps, LED Box Lighting, and a cargo lamp are all standard. Additionally, the Tremor trim comes standard with the Flexbed Storage System.

On the inside of the Maverick Tremor, you’ll enjoy Black Onyx Interior ActiveX trimmed seats, honing in on the rugged durability of the trim. Also, you’ll enjoy the comfort of heated seats and a power eight-way adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support. Ford’s signature SYNC 4 system is also front and center for the Tremor, with the same 13.2-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen that is standard on the Lobo trim. However, an eight-speaker B&O sound system with HD Radio is standard for the Tremor. Finally, you’ll enjoy the convenience of Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity, ensuring you have access to your favorite playlists and directions when needed.
