That’s a great question, and even though this isn’t the start of an all-new generation for the Expedition, Ford has still seen fit to provide their three-row SUV with some great updates. One of the first things you’ll likely notice when looking at the 2025 Ford Expedition, especially compared to last year’s model, is new styling on the outside. While not a full redesign, the exterior of the Expedition has received a facelift and noticeable updates that help ensure it looks better than ever. A newly available rear gate is one of the stars of the show with this update, offering terrific functionality that we hope to see on more Ford models in the future. You’ll also notice that a new Tremor trim marks the off-road version of the Expedition, providing you with remarkable capabilities in an SUV that’s ready for your family’s next adventure.
Gorgeous New Looks on the Outside
As we said, one of the first things you’re likely to notice about the 2025 Expedition, especially if you’re already quite familiar with this model, is the updated exterior. The changes aren’t necessarily revolutionary, but they’re noticeable, and it’s always nice to see Ford continue to enhance the designs of its SUVs. A revised grille dominates the front end of the refreshed Expedition; the standard Active model has a Carbon Black surround with Ebony bars to create a striking black-on-black aesthetic. The Tremor model features a unique Ebony mesh with signature lighting, while the King Ranch adds Bronze-painted bars for a distinct look.
New headlights beautifully accompany this revamped grille to create a bold front end that looks stunning from every angle. You get new taillights to go along with them for a strong, cohesive overall appearance, both in the front and back, plus new wheel designs that are flashy and help bring it all together. As you’d expect, you get a number of exterior colors available to help you customize your Ford Expedition to perfectly match your style, including Agate Black Metallic, Dark Matter Gray Metallic, and Oxford White. The Tremor model adds an exclusive Wild Green exterior color option that might not be for everyone, but we love the distinctly outdoorsy look that it provides when combined with the rest of the Tremor’s style.
All-New Available Ford Split Gate
Although there’s a lot to like about the 2025 Ford Expedition, and it brings plenty to the road, what it offers when you’re parked is just as important. We love three-row SUVs like the Expedition because of how well they can make your life easier; Ford clearly understands this because they’ve focused on remarkable functionality with this updated model. One of our favorite features has to be the all-new multi-function Ford Split Gate that’s now available for the back of the Expedition. Rather than a typical rear hatch like you find on most SUVs, this gives you a split rear tailgate with powered upper and lower halvesāpicture the top half like a typical SUV hatch, the lower part more like a truck’s tailgate.
The result is that you get a rear cargo area that’s incredibly easy to use and highly functional, making your life easier in a variety of ways. We’ve all opened the backs of our SUVs to reach in and grab something, only to have items that shifted while driving come toppling out from the front and crash to the ground. With this Split Gate, you can just open the top to grab something, and you don’t have to worry about small items (like toys or groceries) breaking free from the lower area. You can also utilize this to load longer items into the back, knowing that the lower gate will help keep them secure while the open upper gate makes room for them.
Enhancing functionality even further, Ford also offers an available Cargo Tailgate Manager to make your life easier. This item not only makes it simple to manage and organize cargo in the back of your SUV, but it can be used as a shelf, table, or anything else you need from a work surface. This is perfect for tailgating, going camping, or just enjoying a picnic since it makes organization and taking care of things out of the back of your 2025 Ford Expedition incredibly simple. And with available 360-Degree Zone Lighting, you’ll find lights on the front grille, roof rails, liftgate, and the rear spoiler to help you see in the darkāagain, ideal for camping or just hanging out with friends at the end of the day.
Beautifully Revamped Interior with Great Features
The interior of the 2025 Ford Expedition has also received an update and makeover to ensure it looks better than ever and to enhance your time on the road each day. First and foremost, every model now comes with a gorgeous 24-inch Panoramic Instrument Panel Display that stretches out behind and just above the steering wheel and extends to the right toward the center of the dashboard. This massive screen can be configured to show vehicle data you need along with navigation information and more, staying near your eye level without obstructing your view or causing you to look away from the road.
This beautiful screen is joined by a 13.2-inch Centerstack Display slightly lower than it, providing you with additional screen space for navigation, playing music, and using other apps available for the Expedition. All of this is part of the Ford Digital Experience that fully embraces modern technology to create a system nothing else can beat. Tri-zone electronic automatic temperature control is standard to ensure you and all of your passengers are quite comfortable, plus you get standard cloth seating. If you want to enhance your time on the road, then consider the Platinum with its leather-trimmed heated and ventilated front seats or the King Ranch with its distinct Del Rio leather seating and incredible 22-speaker B&O sound system.
Introducing the Adventurous Expedition Tremor
Ford is no stranger to outdoor vehicles, and that includes the Expedition, which previously had a Timberline trim available. For the 2025 model year, however, the Timberline has been replaced by a more impressive, first-ever Expedition Tremor, setting a new standard for bold off-road capabilities in this three-row SUV. We’ve already mentioned some of the Tremor’s unique looks, but it also comes with Intelligent four-wheel drive with a Terrain Management System, including an exclusive Rock Crawl mode that’s perfect for navigating boulders and large rocks when you’re off-road. It comes with a High-Output V6 engine that delivers 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque for incredible performance, plus a modified Higher-Ride Suspension with premium passive shocks to tackle whatever the trail throws at you.
This suspension is paired with 18-inch Dark Carbonized Gray wheels wrapped in 33-inch all-terrain tires, creating 10.6 inches of ground clearance so you can go just about anywhere you can imagine. Unique details continue to set this model apart, including Amber Active-painted front tow hooks and LED fog lamps with Carbon Black bezels, plus unique accent stitching and bright Tremor logos inside. All of this comes together to create a bold and remarkable seven-passenger SUV that’s ready to take you camping, off-road, and anywhere else you want to go on your next family vacation.
Make Great Memories in the 2025 Ford Expedition
As you can see, Ford has created an elevated and incredible family SUV with the 2025 Expedition, taking things further than ever before. While the refreshed styling inside and out is great, standout features like the Ford Split Gate and the new Ford Digital Experience, with its large and beautiful displays, are here to improve the enjoyment you get from this SUV. We didn’t even mention other great features like the available Flex Powered Console up front that can slide forward to create more room for the second row or back to give second-row passengers access to it. Ultimately, Ford has created something special with this vehicle, and it’s the perfect choice for your family if you’re looking for a large and capable SUV. No matter where life takes you, the 2025 Expedition is ready to get you there and make sure you have fun along the way.
