The 2024 Ford Expedition marks the latest model year outing for the full-size, three-row SUV as part of the fourth generation. Ford has imbued the Expedition with some new features and updates for 2024, making the SUV even more enticing to potential shoppers, especially those who may be eyeing competing SUVs in the full-size category, such as the Chevy Tahoe or the Nissan Armada. New for 2024, the Expedition adds an all-new color to the palette, with Wild Green joining seven other colors, including Agate Black Metallic, Star White Metallic Tri-Coat, Oxford White, Dark Matter Metallic, Jewel Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat, Stone Blue Metallic, and Iconic Silver Metallic. Also new for 2024 is the addition of a USB type-C charging port in the second row, and the Ford BlueCruise 1.0 comes with a standard 90-day trial for the Platinum trim. There have been some minor package modifications, too. The front recovery hooks are available as part of the Heavy-Duty Trailer Tow Package, and the Excursion Package is now available for the Limited trim.
The 2024 Expedition is available across multiple trims with multiple powertrain configurations and with multiple packages depending on what you’re looking for out of a full-size SUV. You can get the Expedition in six different trim formats, spanning different driving disciplines. The Expedition starts with the XL STX and is followed by the mid-tier XLT trim, with the more upscale Limited being next in line; then there is the off-road Timberline, the feature-rich King Ranch, and the luxury Platinum. The XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum are also available as an Expedition Max model, which is nearly a foot longer and provides additional storage capacity over the base model.

Performance
Engines
There are two different powertrains available for the 2024 Expedition. There is a 3.5-liter EcoBoost turbocharged V6 that generates 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque, but you can also get the EcoBoost V6 with improved performance in some trims that can output up to 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. There is also a 3.5-liter turbocharged EcoBoost High Output V6, which generates up to 440 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. Every powertrain is also mated to a 10-speed automatic SelectShift transmission. The Expedition is also available in a drivetrain configuration of rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive for those who want better stability and the ability to take the full-size SUV off-road.
Handling
The fully boxed frame is designed to give you as much stability as possible while also retaining the classic Ford design language for the Expedition. You also have features in place to ensure that you can get the most out of the vehicle in terms of handling and responsiveness; this is made possible thanks to Electronic Power-Assist Rack-and-Pinion Steering, as well as a non-limited-slip 3.73 rear axle with multi-link independent rear suspension. The Expedition even comes with front and rear stabilizer bars to reduce body roll, along with Anti-Lock Brakes with Brake Assist and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution to reduce sliding or jerking motions when bringing the vehicle to a stop.
Additional performance features include the AdvanceTrac system for stability management, which is coupled with the patented RSC or Roll Stability Control system. These are put into place so that you can manage the Expedition on the road without worrying about veering out of the lane due to high gusts of wind or sliding across the road due to wet, snowy, or icy surfaces. There is also Traction Control, which is great for not only maintaining the proper distribution of torque but also ensuring you can maintain proper control over the vehicle at varying speeds, along with Trailer Sway Control, so if you decide to make use of the 9,300 lbs worth of towing, you can be sure that the trailer is kept in line with the vehicle and does not move all across the lane. You have Hill Start Assist on 4×2 and 4×4 models and Hill Descent Control on 4×4 models as well, which are great for keeping the vehicle’s speed in check when traversing hills.
