The Pro Access Tailgate once again sets the F-150 apart from the rest of its truck competitors, giving it the only 100-degree, fully-opening integrated swing gate in its class. The unique design of the Pro Access Tailgate allows for easy access to the truck bed and cargo by opening up like a car door, as well as swinging open like a traditional tailgate. By changing up the tailgate’s configuration, occupants gain 19 inches of additional reach, minimizing the need to tippy-toe your way to your cargo.
The tailgate design takes towing into consideration, providing a built-in stop that keeps the gate from swinging into the trailer jack. Ford also considered how the tailgate would work with bed accessories and covers, making it not only easy, but convenient to customize your F-150. Part of that customization is the option to forgo the new tailgate design and stick with the previous model, which had plenty of its own appeal. A mobile workstation, the classic tailgate offers integrated tools, a cup holder, and more.
Outstanding Towing
If your interest is in towing rather than hauling, don’t fret because the F-150 is a Jack of all trades. When properly equipped, the F-150 offers a best-in-class max available towing of 13,500 lbs. Offering advanced trailering tech, the Ford F-150 can push the limits of what you think is possible. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is one of these features, taking the guesswork out of reversing with a trailer. Instead of trying to steer both truck and trailer, Pro Trailer Backup Assist provides easy control of the trailer when reversing. A turn of a knob allows the driver to steer the trailer, keeping it in sync with the truck.
If that wasn’t enough to sell the Ford F-150 as the ultimate trailering truck, then perhaps its artificial intelligence is. Adapting advanced technology for use in the automotive industry is nothing new, but Ford’s Pro Trailer Hitch Assist is. Using artificial intelligence, the hitch assist program takes over steering, braking, and accelerating so that it can perfectly line up truck and trailer for easy hitching. Athletic Engine Choices
Thanks to Ford’s plentiful engine options, the 2024 Ford F-150 can handle a wide range of tasks. It all starts with a 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, combining power and efficiency for a more thrilling experience. The V6 is a twin-turbo setup that offers 325 horses and 400 lb-ft of torque.
For a little bit more in the power department, Ford offers a gas-powered 3.5-liter V6 that pumps out 400 hp. This EcoBoost also uses a twin-turbo design, which is partially to thank for the increased power. With Ford’s focus on hybrid and EV technology, it comes as no surprise that the 3.5-liter EcoBoost comes in a hybrid variety. The 3.5-liter PowerBoost is that variety, offering hybrid performance in the form of 430 hp. For anyone who enjoys the sounds of the V8, don’t fear because the 5.0-liter V8 is another engine option.
If you thought that was all, you are sorely mistaken. With the most off-road capable F-150 trims still on the table, there is plenty more power to be seen. The Raptor comes off the line with a 3.5-liter V6 High Output block that makes 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Then there is the Raptor R. Taking it up a notch—or ten—the Raptor R is equipped with a 5.2-liter Supercharged V8 that explodes with at least 700 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque.
Taking It Off-Road
From powerful to wow, the Ford F-150 offers a solid lineup of engine options designed to make every drive a memorable one. Each engine option is mated to a 10-speed transmission and can be equipped with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Taking the F-150 from road to off-road is pretty easy, especially if riding in the Raptor or Raptor R.
For the 2024 model year, the Raptor received some snazzy upgrades, which include FOX Dual Live Valve shocks for ultimate off-road comfort. While many manufacturers can boast advanced suspension designs, only Ford can claim the benefits of their Ford algorithms. Programmed to continuously adjust to changing terrain, the F-150 Raptor dominates whatever road lays ahead.
